What do you get when you mix a traditional grocery with a funky country store offering local items? The new, locally owned, approximately 12,000-squarefoot RICHMOND MARKET & BEVERAGE, located on Railroad and Bridge streets right across from SONOMA STATION. In the skinny space styled to look like a classic train station, a couple hundred Vermont artisan products – from CASTLETON CRACKERS to rolls of frozen Vermont cookie love dough – share shelf space with standard foodstuffs. Cans of Folgers sit beside VERMONT ARTISAN COFFEE, and bottles of Vermont Maid “pancake syrup” rub shoulders with the genuine maple article. For gourmets, there are frozen magret duck breasts and fancy cheeses; for health foodies, soy and rice milk, Quorn meatreplacement products and Cascadian Farm cereals.
The more conventional prepared foods include creamy pasta and potato salads, premade sandwiches, Buffalo wings and entree salads. Behind the deli counter, which showcases McKenzie meats, spitted chickens brown on a rotisserie.

Medicare Solutions, located across from Avenida Guadalupe, at 1410 Guadalupe St., Suite 120, is a community-based advocate for people with Medicare.
John Rivera, founder of Medicare Solutions, says people who have applied for Medicare benefits because of a disability with a kidney, heart or liver condition might be eligible for funds to help pay for a Medicare supplement insurance plan provided they apply for assistance within 90 days of being awarded the benefit.
Rivera says foundations that advocate for these chronic conditions are providing funds so patients can get access to the best medical care available without having to be limited to a restricted network of physicians and specialists usually associated with Medicaid or Medicare Advantage Plans.
Rivera has asked Arthur Rodriguez, MHP, and a former Director of Medicare Sales for Humana, Inc. to assist in rolling out this educational campaign. Rodriguez has been working with seniors in San Antonio for the past 20 years.

Don’t give up. If you are going to achieve anything in life, you are going to get knocked down along the way. Those who succeed are those who get back up and forge ahead. My oldest child is in gymnastics and the other day on the way to practice we were talking about determination. I am convinced that more often than not, success lies on the other side of the river hardship. Determination, and a “don’t give up” attitude will see us through the hard times and onto victory!
Practical application: The next time you feel like the wind has gone from your sails, and you feel like quitting, take awhile to rethink the situation. Remind yourself again why you started out in the first place. Remind yourself of you will feel when you get there. The secondly, find a counter example of someone for whom their belief is not true. Let me illustrate this language pattern:
If someone expresses a limiting belief and they say: “I can’t ever make much money because I did not go to University to get a degree.”
A good reply from the model of the world pattern would be to say: “Bill Gates doesn’t have a university degree and he’s the richest man in the world.”
Another example of a response would be: “Is there no one who is rich that doesn’t have a university degree?”
This one is very straight forward. Basically, you call their belief into question by pointing out that it is not true for everyone.

Blue Shield of California is now offering the Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program to subscribers of Blue Shield Medicare Supplement Plans throughout California, the Company announced.
SilverSneakers, a social support and exercise program designed to keep seniors newsdesk@y, has been a benefit with California Medicare HMOs, but Blue Shield is one of the few newsdesk@ plans in the state to offer the benefit as part of its Medicare Supplement plans as well, the Company noted in a release.
“Today’s older adults strive to maintain physical and mental newsdesk@ as well as quality of life. We’re proud to take an industry-leading position in promoting wellness and prevention by enabling all our Medicare Supplement plan subscribers around the state to access SilverSneakers as part of their efforts to pursue an active, independent lifestyle,” said Marc Russo, vice president of Senior Markets at Blue Shield of California.
Blue Shield said that research has demonstrated SilverSneakers improves the newsdesk@ and well-being of participants through its combination of exercise and social support. A 2008 study sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found SilverSneakers provided tangible newsdesk@ benefits for high-risk members. Members with diabetes who were active in SilverSneakers are admitted to the hospital less often, have lower inpatient care costs and have significant reduction in overall newsdesk@care costs after only a year of participation.
